SUMMER SPRINT SERIES
ENGLAND ATHLETICS (MIDLANDS & SOUTH WEST) & MIDLAND COUNTIES AA
After the success of the 2008 Summer Sprint Series held with MCAA and the East Midlands and West Midlands Regions of England Athletics, it is the intention to run the series again this year with the involvement of the South West Region. However due to administrative problems beyond anyone’s control, this year’s event will now be held solely on one day in the Birmingham Open Games, on Sunday 19th July. Each of the three Regions has been invited to select five athletes for each event (100m, 200m and 400m Men and Women). This will make for two heats and a final. (Prize packages for winners will be awarded).
It is the intention that the Sprint Series (100m, 200, and 400m for Senior Men and Women) will revert in 2010 to the preferred qualifying system. To facilitate this there will be a need for three qualifying meetings in each Region in May and June for athletes to reach the final to be held in the Birmingham Open Games usually in mid July. (Subject to calendar scheduling!). Any club organising an ‘Open’ Meeting at that time next year and is interested in hosting the qualifying rounds are asked to notify the Midland Counties A A Office ASAP.
Thank You.
